Back at Oscar's. Had the Eggplant Sliders AGAIN. Slices of fried eggplant with mashed potato sandwiched in between nestled on a bed of yummy marinara sauce. Don't even ask me to share, it's not gonna happen.

The owner and chief is a really great guy. Came in here some months back on a snow day and I asked for his favorite sandwhich and that was not from around here. What he made was incredible and his stories and welcomeness made it all the better. Highly recommend!

Today I had lunch for a 4th time at Oscar's; my new favorite. The Cuban Panini was wonderful. and their home-made split pea soup was perfect for a cold rainy day. Last week I had a lunch portion Pasta Carbonara with chicken, and this week I finally got to try the home-made gnocchi. Absolute HEAVEN. Better than just about any other gnocchi I've had anywhere , anyway, any time. Just right, perfectly light plump little pillows of pasta. And the sesserts. Oh MY . do save room for dessert! The chocolate espresso r torte was delicious ( and would have served at least two more people...if i had been in a generous mood.....) But the real star of the dessert tray is the flan. Now this is coming from someone whose usually reaction to flan is ' MEH, get me a real dessert! But THIS flan is so luxurious, smooth not to "eggy " and a perfect way to top off a meal especially with their excellent coffee. The only item on the menu I can't honesly\ly rave about is the Caesar Salad. Grated cheese from a can and croutons from a box, and the dressing was no where near "Ceasar-y" and rather sweet and thin tasting and no anchovies? I think the rest of the meal was just so good the salad suffered by comparison.... The service is friendly and our waitress knew the menu backwards and forward....and maybe the service can be a little slow if the place is slammed, but considering there are only 2 people running the show, it's pretty darn good. If you wasnt fast go to McDonald's....if you go to Oscar's, sit back and enjoy your dinner! Looking forward to many, many more meals there. Next time I'm trying the crab cakes..... Oh, and they serve wine!

Everything I've tried so far has been delicious. The Cuban is my go-to choice but I can't wait to try the rest. Bob's cacoila was excellent and the pasta dishes I've had were all perfectly done. You can tell the man takes pride in what he does, keep it up!

My wife and I were looking for a new place to eat and we decided to give this place a try because of the awesome reviews on Yelp. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very nice. It's a very tiny place with maybe 11 two person tables. It's quiet and the music is nice. The service takes a very long time. We were there about an hour and a half total. The waitress is attentive and very nice. The food was ok. I was really hoping it was as good as the reviews said. We had chicken parm and chicken piccata. The chicken parm was ok, not a fan of the red sauce here. The chicken piccata was excellent and the sides were good. The chicken soup was very bland. The prices are very high considering the quality of the food and thats why I gave a 3 instead of a 4. If the prices were more realistic to the food quality, the I would give it 4 stars because it's really not a bad place to eat.

Though I drove by it 3 times, my visit to Oscars Food Company was a fantastic one. The decor is a but underwhelming, but if intimate is your thing - this place is perfect. With a just-right sized menu, beer and wine options, daily specials, and a family inning the place - it was a nice change of pace from most of the other places around. Warm, crisp bread with whipped butter started us off, along with a tasty bottle of Nappa Chardonnay. Simple salads (garden for me - made with a really good orange/balsamic) and Caesar for the lady with a special house recipe non-traditional dressing) soon followed. The waitress - one of the owners - talked with us about her husband's (the chef) specialty stuff. You could see him cooking away in their tiny kitchen - meticulously making everything just right. Chicken Piccata for me - with a side of spaghetti - and a cacoila plate for my lady. The chicken was good. Thin- with a decent portion and I enjoyed the spaghetti sauce so much that I asked for a side of a meatball for go with it. The meatball came out piping hot and was made from beef and pork. The chef actually came out to watch me eat it - and it was very tasty. The cacoila was a hot as well and we opted yes for desserts. Special recipe Flan and the flourless chocolate torte. Both were perfect and flavorful. Very inviting and conversational owners - and spot on food. We will absolutely be returning!

We JUST learned hat Oscar's was in our neighborhood (sort of) and that it's been there for 17 months already. How did we miss this place for so long? Perhaps because it's kind of stuck in a teensy strip mall on Cowesett Avenue just as East Greenwich turns into West Warwick and there is not a very large sign out front. Or maybe folks wanted to keep it a secret!! Who knows? But now WE know it's there and we could not be happier. First off, I am thrilled that they are onto the popularity of gluten-free diets and they offer almost all of their delicious dinners that way - they offer GF pasta and if a food gets a coating, instead of bread crumbs they use corn meal. I could not have been happier. Hubby ordered spaghetti with sea food (it had a name, but I have forgotten what it was called). His bowl was chock full of seafood with a lovely red sauce on top of the pasta. I ordered chicken parm with pasta - the chicken parm could not have been better if it had been coated in real bread crumbs rather than corn meal. It was juicy and tender and covered with delicious oozing melting cheese on top and red sauce, accompanied by the GF pasta available that day - which was rigatoni. In all fairness, although I absolutely loved my meal, I have to say that the red sauce on my pasta was not the best red sauce I have ever had - it was fine, but it needed some oregano, maybe some basil - it seemed to be mostly cooked down tomatoes - which is fine - just that it could have used some more spices. We cleaned our plates - but still really wanted to try their desserts. The dessert board listed a number of desserts and I could not believe it - but they were all gluten free - including the chocolate torte, which was flourless. It was a difficult decision, but the woman at the next table had the flan, and although I was never a huge fan of that dessert, I ordered it anyway because hers looked SO good. It was not a typical flan, which I kind of dislike because they are usually a bit watery on top (that is probably the true and authentic way of making flan). I liked Oscar's flan better. It was the most creamy thick yet light and delicious custard covered with amazing butterscotch caramel. YUMMY! I actually could have eaten just the caramel and been happy but the rest of the dessert really was delicious. Not on the board, but also available, was carrot cake which my hubby ordered. He said it was fantastic (this from a guy not given to hoorahs over anything, including food). The folks that own Oscar's run it all by themselves, with help from one waitress. The venue is pretty small so you must make a reservation if you want to go on a weekend night. I think they turn the tables over three times on a Saturday night, and the place only seats around twenty. It is SO worth it to make a reservation at Oscar's. The food is delicious, the folks who own it are so very friendly - the owner/chef came out to our table and chatted with us after we finished our meal, and his wife was as nice and friendly as a person could be. We will definitely be going back to Oscar's. Not only was the food, drinks, and dessert great, but the price was even greater (or lesser, depending on how you look at it.) Very reasonable for drinks, (they only serve wine and beer), a delicious meal and dessert. I am giving five stars because we loved our meal and we loved the laid back and very comfortable feeling we got while dining at Oscar's. We felt like someone was serving us dinner in our own dining room. What could be better?

My husband suggested trying Oscars' Food Co. last summer after a neighbor spoke well of it. We stopped by, but it was closed. Then honestly forgot to try again til a day ago. Wow! Best Crab cakes I've had in a long time. Hubby very happy with his standard spaghetti & meatballs. Will be back soon to try different dishes. Excellent service too. (Update: Sadly, now closed.)

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
